📰 Thomasville City Schools Featured in the Tallahassee Democrat

We are proud to see the exciting work happening in Thomasville City Schools and our community recognized in a recent Tallahassee Democrat opinion piece highlighting how the future of manufacturing and workforce development is taking shape right here in Thomasville.

The article shines a light on the strong collaboration between our schools, local businesses, and higher education partners, helping create meaningful opportunities for students.

At Thomasville City Schools, we believe in helping every student discover their interests and build a clear pathway for life after graduation. Through our Bulldog +1 initiative, every graduate leaves with a plan to be:

Enrolled in college or technical training
Enlisted in the military
Employed in a meaningful career

Partnerships with institutions such as Georgia Tech and Southern Regional Technical College continue to expand opportunities for our students through hands-on STEM experiences, career exploration, and workforce development programs that connect classroom learning with real-world careers.

The excitement around these opportunities extends beyond our classrooms and into the entire Thomasville community, where local businesses and organizations are helping open doors and support the next generation of leaders.

📚🎉 Friday Feature: Read Across America Week! 🎉📚 (Part 2)

One of our favorite weeks of the year has wrapped up — and what a FUN celebration it has been across Thomasville City Schools!

From our youngest Bulldogs to our middle and high school students (yes, ALL of them! 🙌), campuses have been celebrating Read Across America – Dr. Seuss Week with creative, wacky dress-up days inspired by some of Dr. Seuss’ most famous books.

Throughout the week, students enjoyed:
📖 Special guest readers
🎩 Themed dress-up days
📚 Book readings and literacy activities
✨ Creative classroom celebrations centered around the joy of reading

We love seeing our entire district — elementary through high school — come together to celebrate literacy in such a big way. Reading builds imagination, strengthens skills, and opens doors to opportunity at every age.

From silly socks to Cat-in-the-Hat hats, this week reminded us that reading is powerful — and FUN!

We encourage every Bulldog, from our youngest learners to our graduating seniors, to keep discovering the joy of a great book.

Because when students read… leaders are built. ❤️💛

📚✨ Joyful Learning at Scott Elementary! ✨📚

You can see the excitement in every smile! At Scott Elementary, Mrs. Cooper’s first graders brought energy and enthusiasm to phonics after reading Stick and Stone by Beth Ferry. Students took their learning to the Active Floor to practice long vowels and the silent e — moving, laughing, and fully engaged.

This is what learning looks like at Scott: hands-on, high-energy, and student-centered. When students are this excited about literacy, growth follows.

We love seeing our Scotties learning with joy!

Thomasville High School students had the opportunity to hear from Frank Scoggins, Thomas County Supervisor of Elections, and Hannah Phillips, Assistant Supervisor of Elections, in Mr. Bryant’s classes. 🗳️🇺🇸

They shared valuable insight into the voting process, election procedures, and the importance of civic engagement. Experiences like this connect classroom learning to real-world responsibility and empower our students to become informed, active citizens.

🏛️✨ Learning Comes to Life at Jerger Elementary! ✨🏛️

Jerger Elementary 4th graders recently wrapped up their Greek Mythology unit with an exciting and immersive Greek Day Celebration. After weeks of studying gods, goddesses, and ancient traditions, students stepped into the world they’ve been learning about through hands-on activities and even sampling authentic Greek foods.

From exploring mythology to experiencing elements of Greek culture, this was learning brought to life in a memorable way. We are so proud of the curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm our students displayed throughout this special celebration.
