🎒✨ Getting Ready for Middle School—One Visit at a Time! ✨🎒
This week, our 5th graders across Thomasville City Schools had the opportunity to meet Dr. Sims and Mrs. Rayburn from The Scholars Academy as they stopped by our elementary schools to help students begin preparing for the transition to middle school.
Students heard real talk about what middle school is like, learned about exciting academic opportunities and activities, and received helpful tips to feel confident, supported, and ready for this next big step. We were also excited to have former Scotties Malia Gloster and Chauncey Coleman join the conversation and share their own experiences with our Scott Elementary 5th graders. .
These visits are all about helping students envision their future, ease worries, and build excitement as they prepare for middle school in a welcoming, supportive environment.
We’re grateful to Dr. Sims and Mrs. Rayburn for taking the time to invest in our students and help families better understand the many pathways available through The Scholars Academy.
📌Rising middle school students and their families are invited to attend Scholars Academy Information Night on Tuesday, February 3, from 6–7 p.m. in the Scholars Academy Auditorium.
Families of current 4th graders are also encouraged to attend and learn more about the Scholars Academy experience, academic opportunities, and what the middle school years can offer.

In Mrs. Russo’s Environmental Science class, students tested five different cleaning products to determine which were most effective against bacteria. Through hands-on investigation and data analysis, they discovered that vinegar proved to be a strong performer—right alongside bleach.
This real-world lab helped students connect classroom science to everyday applications while building critical thinking and research skills.

❄️🧥 Bundle Up, Bulldogs! 🧥❄️
With cold and below-freezing temperatures expected over the next few days, we ask families to please ensure students come to school dressed warmly each day.
✅ Bundle up with layers:
• Heavy coat or jacket
• Hat and gloves
• Warm socks
• Extra layers as needed
🚌 For Bus Riders:
If possible, students should wait inside until just a few minutes before their scheduled pickup time to limit exposure to the cold. Dressing appropriately is especially important in case of unexpected delays.
Thank you for helping us keep our Bulldogs safe, warm, and ready to learn.
