Jerger Elementary 5th graders recently wrapped up their novel study of Fish in a Tree, a powerful story that reminds us that everyone is smart in different ways. Through Ally’s journey, students explored themes of perseverance, self-confidence, and the importance of supportive teachers and classmates.
To bring the message to life, students created illustrations of animals doing things they normally “couldn’t do,” sparking meaningful conversations about giving your best, embracing differences, and showing kindness to others—especially those who may think or learn differently. 🐘🎨
Way to go, Jerger 5th grade! Your creativity, thoughtful discussions, and open hearts truly shined. We’re proud of how you’re learning to believe in yourselves and support one another every step of the way. 💛👏

Families from inside and outside the district came together to explore the many exciting offerings available through Scholars. Guests heard inspiring personal stories from current seniors who reflected on their time in the program and the impact of smaller class sizes, where teachers are able to truly know each student and tap into their individual strengths, interests, and talents. At Scholars, there is something for every student.
Parents of current Scholars Academy students also shared their perspectives on the transition from elementary to middle school—highlighting both the challenges and the excitement of this next step. Their experiences helped future Scholars and their families feel welcomed, informed, and excited about the new opportunities and growth that await.
We encourage students and families to explore Scholars and see how the program could be a great fit for their academic journey.

After learning about Punxsutawney Phil and how Groundhog Day connects to weather predictions and the changing seasons, students in Ms. Notaro and Mrs. Fiveash’s classes took learning outdoors to explore their own shadows. They observed how the sun’s position affects shadow size and direction, made predictions, and compared their findings to Phil’s famous forecast.
A fun, hands-on way to blend science, tradition, and winter learning!
