🤸‍♂️✨ Learning in Motion at Scott Elementary! ✨🤸‍♀️

Our Active Floor has been busy over the past few weeks—bringing energy, movement, and hands-on learning to classrooms across Scott Elementary.

Mrs. Augustin’s first graders practiced adjectives and explored 2D and 3D shapes

Mrs. Harris’s kindergarteners worked on letter recognition

Mrs. Mobley’s fourth graders strengthened multiplication and division skills

This interactive tool gets students thinking, moving, and learning together—proof that learning really can be a full-body experience!

🎉🌍 Celebrating Culture, Community, and Connection! 🌍🎉

More than 100 students from language clubs across Thomasville High School, Thomas County Central, and Brookwood Schools came together to make the 2nd Annual Thomasville Multicultural Celebration a huge success. Through food, music, and cultural traditions from around the world, students helped create an evening that truly celebrated diversity and unity.

We are incredibly proud of our THS and Scholars Academy students, with approximately 70 students from our school participating—whether helping with setup and cleanup, serving as emcees, supporting vendors, or keeping the event running smoothly. A special thank you to the entire planning committee and club members, with more than 25 students representing and supporting throughout the night.

👏 Special recognition to our Spanish Club officers pictured:

President: Trinity Do

Vice President: Adalee King

Secretary: Kinley Peterson

Treasurer: Connor Pringle

Additional committee members include Kamryn Shokat, Breanna King, and Kyley Peterson—thank you for your leadership and dedication.

We also extend our gratitude to the many vendors who generously shared their cultures, food, and talents, and to everyone who came out to support this meaningful celebration.

What a powerful example of student leadership, collaboration, and global awareness. We are so proud of our Bulldogs! 🐾💛

Scott Elementary is off and racing with the Scottie Dog Dash, a school-wide initiative designed to boost Accelerated Reader engagement in a fun and motivating way. Each page read and quiz passed moves students forward on a physical race track—turning reading into real momentum.

A big shoutout to 2nd grade, currently leading at Checkpoint 1 and earning a Book Vending Machine token for every student and teacher in their grade. Way to set the pace!

We love seeing school spirit and literacy come together—every page truly fuels the race.

🎒✨ Getting Ready for Middle School—One Visit at a Time! ✨🎒

This week, our 5th graders across Thomasville City Schools had the opportunity to meet Dr. Sims and Mrs. Rayburn from The Scholars Academy as they stopped by our elementary schools to help students begin preparing for the transition to middle school.

Students heard real talk about what middle school is like, learned about exciting academic opportunities and activities, and received helpful tips to feel confident, supported, and ready for this next big step. We were also excited to have former Scotties Malia Gloster and Chauncey Coleman join the conversation and share their own experiences with our Scott Elementary 5th graders. .

These visits are all about helping students envision their future, ease worries, and build excitement as they prepare for middle school in a welcoming, supportive environment.

We’re grateful to Dr. Sims and Mrs. Rayburn for taking the time to invest in our students and help families better understand the many pathways available through The Scholars Academy.

📌Rising middle school students and their families are invited to attend Scholars Academy Information Night on Tuesday, February 3, from 6–7 p.m. in the Scholars Academy Auditorium.
Families of current 4th graders are also encouraged to attend and learn more about the Scholars Academy experience, academic opportunities, and what the middle school years can offer.

🧪🌿 Science in Action at Thomasville High School! 🌿🧪

In Mrs. Russo’s Environmental Science class, students tested five different cleaning products to determine which were most effective against bacteria. Through hands-on investigation and data analysis, they discovered that vinegar proved to be a strong performer—right alongside bleach.

This real-world lab helped students connect classroom science to everyday applications while building critical thinking and research skills.
