From creating team names and decorating door signs to participating in pre-learning activities, our Bulldogs are building excitement, teamwork, and knowledge before their adventure even begins!

Students in Ms. Knop’s class at Scholars Academy have been learning about the different types of governments in Africa—and recently put that learning to the test with a hands-on challenge!
Each group was assigned a type of government and challenged to build a structure out of straws that represented how that government is organized and operates. It was a creative way for students to take what they’ve been studying and turn it into something they could see, build, and better understand.
Hands-on learning + teamwork + a little creativity = a great day in the classroom! 🌍🐾

Students are performing chemical water testing and sampling for macroinvertebrates to help evaluate the health of the creek and its ecosystem. Even better—they are collecting actual stream data that contributes to ongoing environmental monitoring!
This hands-on experience directly connects to Georgia Science Standard S7L4c as students analyze and interpret data as evidence of how resource availability, climate, and human activity may affect organisms, populations, communities, and ecosystems.
Through this project, our students aren’t just learning about ecosystems—they’re working as citizen scientists, collecting authentic data and seeing firsthand how environmental conditions can impact the living organisms in a local ecosystem.
A special thank you to Golden Triangle RC&D for donating the chemical testing kits for the year and to Adopt-A-Stream Coordinator Julie Shutters for supporting this incredible learning opportunity!

Teachers at MacIntyre Park and Scholars Academy Middle Schools have been hard at work growing their instructional knowledge through professional learning focused on Teacher Clarity!
Our teachers have explored the importance of using learning targets and success criteria to clearly communicate what students are learning and how they will know they have been successful. They also dove deeper into the Gradual Release of Responsibility framework, learning how to structure lessons around four key access points: focused instruction, guided instruction, collaborative learning, and independent learning
We are excited to see our teachers put these high-impact practices into action as they continue to strengthen instruction and create meaningful learning experiences for every student. When teachers are clear, students are empowered to learn!

Our middle and high school students are excited to put these new resources to work in the greenhouse, where they’ll learn firsthand about composting, sustainability, and plant science while growing a variety of plants.
