THS Athletics Schedule

I would like to congratulate both our Girls and Boys Basketball teams on great seasons! Both groups advanced to the State Tournament as Region Champions and were able to host home playoff games. 

The girls season came to an end on Tuesday night after they were defeated by the Lamar County Lady Trojans.

The boys advanced to the Sweet Sixteen with a victory over the Jasper County Hurricanes on Wednesday night. On Saturday night the boys were defeated by a talented Model Blue Devils team from Rome. 

On Friday at the Thomasville Center for the Arts, the THS Literary team captured its fourth consecutive Region 1-AA Championship. The team captured the title with 68 total points, 2nd place Fitzgerald totaled 38 points. Event Champions include: Cole Ridenour in International Extemporaneous Speaking, Ellie Griffin in Humorous Oral Interpretation, Emily Sumner in Dramatic Oral Interpretation, Ellie Griffin and Turner Conger in Duo Oral Interpretation, Casiana Lummer in Argumentative Essay, Brantley Taylor in Rhetorical Essay, Turner Conger in Boys Solo, and the Quartet consisting of Cole Ridenour, Aidan Lee, Hogan Watson, and Zachary Meeks. Congratulations to the team and coaches! All first place finishers will compete at the GHSA State Literary Meet at Georgia Military College on Saturday, March 26th.

A special Thank You goes out to all the staff members that helped serve as timers and monitors throughout the day on Friday as well!

The THS Golf team had its first match of the year this past week at Country Oaks and came away victorious over TCC and Berrien County. Junior Brycen Jones, the defending AA State Low Medalist, led the Bulldogs with a 9 hole score of 37. The Bulldogs had a team score of 182 while TCC shot 184, and Berrien finished with a 189.

The THS Baseball team went 3-1 on the week defeating Pelham on Monday, Cairo on Friday, and Seminole County on Saturday. The Dogs are 6-2 on the young season. 

The boys Soccer team remained undefeated in Region play with victories on the road over Worth County and Fitzgerald this week. The girls also defeated Worth on Tuesday, while falling to Fitzgerald on Friday. Both varsity teams return to action at home this week with Tift County on Tuesday and Worth County on Friday. 

The girls tennis team picked up two big region wins this week over Early County and Cook County. 

Track and Field season is also under way as the Bulldogs travelled to Godby for the Jesse Forbes Inv. this weekend. Nolan Barnes placed 1st in the High Jump, while Cam Bates finished 4th in the Shot Put.

The middle school track team also travelled to Godby on Friday. Below are the results from that meet.

This upcoming week the Thomasville High School Gym Dogs, led by Coach Carson Singletary Kimbrell and Coach Elaina Johnson, will compete in their first meet. The ladies will be in action in Colquitt County on Saturday.
