Thomasville, GA – Thomasville City Schools is proud to announce the launch of its First Annual Get2Work Initiative, a week-long workforce readiness program designed to prepare high school students for immediate employment after graduation.

This district-wide effort, part of the Bulldog +1 program, equips students with career exploration experiences, job readiness training, industry certifications, and direct exposure to local employers. The inaugural event held May 5–9, engaged 5 students in a robust series of activities focused on developing career-ready skills.

Throughout the week, students:

·         Earned forklift certification and day-specific credentials through Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC)

·         Participated in resume writing workshops and mock interviews with real hiring professionals

·         Attended financial literacy sessions to strengthen personal budgeting skills

·         Toured local industries to gain insight into in-demand career opportunities

“Our goal is to ensure every student leaves Thomasville High School with a plan and a path,” said Ashley Palmer, Coordinator of STEM, CTAE, and Career Development. “The Get2Work Initiative bridges the gap between school and the workforce by providing relevant, hands-on learning that translates directly to employment opportunities.”

This program reflects Thomasville City Schools’ continued investment in its Bulldog +1 mission—ensuring every student graduates enrolled, enlisted, or employed.
