Have you ever heard the story of the Survivor Tree? 🌳 Today our students read This Very Tree by Sean Rubin and reflected on the powerful symbol of hope, healing, bravery, and resilience found at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza.
Our younger learners explored community helpers and created a cheerful “Helper Tree” for their classroom — such a sweet reminder of teamwork and care. Our older students had thoughtful conversations about how one tree can teach us to keep growing after hardship.

This activity connected literacy to real life while building measuring skills, following directions, sequencing, cooperation, and responsibility. Best part?
