The B.A.R.K. Summer Program is scheduled to take place at Scott Elementary beginning June 3rd-June 27th for students currently enrolled in Kindergarten through fifth grade. To celebrate Earth Day, Mr. Sherrard’s STEM class got to learn about biopolymer plastics and composting from Mrs. Tammy Nowell of the Georgia Youth Science & Technology Centers. GYSTC has partnered with Danimer Scientific from Bainbridge to help inform area students on these topics. They also donated a compost tumbler to us. Ms. Tammy provided materials to test the different decomposition rates of biopolymer plastic straws compared to regular plastic straws.
