Thomasville High School Media Center Policies & Procedures For Teachers
|
|
·
Plan in advance with
the media specialist the objectives that will be covered during your media
center visit and how objectives can best be achieved using the media center's
resources. "Library skills"
will be taught to individuals or groups of students as the need arises during
students' searches for reference materials. ·
Teachers should sign up
at least the day before bringing classes or sending groups of students
to the media center. During periods of heavy library use (research paper
time!) teachers should make certain students' time in the library is
well-planned and well-spent so that assignments will be completed in a timely
manner. This will allow all classes
to use library resources with a minimum amount of conflict. ·
Please send no more
than three unaccompanied students at a time from your class. Students should have a purpose for
visiting the media center (e.g. checking out a book, looking up reference
materials). Make sure they have a
legitimate pass. ·
When an entire class
uses the media center, the classroom teacher must accompany them. ·
The media center can
comfortably seat two classes, and one or two other small groups (5 students)
at a time. Please keep that in mind
when signing up on the media center calendar. ·
Lamination will be done
on Fridays after 1:00. ·
Teachers will not be
penalized for overdue books, but please return materials in a timely manner,
so that other faculty may use them. ·
A fall media center
orientation will be presented for all ninth grade English classes. ·
Student overdue notices
will be sent to first periods monthly. ·
Student checkout is for
two weeks, with a $.05 per day overdue fine.
Students must present their THS library card to be scanned at the time
of checkout. ·
Students must have
"Internet OK" on their card (signifying their parents have signed
the Acceptable User Policy) before accessing the Internet for educational
purposes. ·
Faculty should make
their own copies, adhering to fair use guidelines when duplicating
copyrighted materials. Guidelines are
posted beside copier. ·
All videotapes shown in
the classroom must relate to the curriculum and be checked out from the media
center. |
