PowerPoint How-To
- Background:
Start -- Programs -- PowerPoint -- Template -- OK --
Presentation Designs -- Choose a background --OK -- Click
layout preferred for first slide.
- New Slide:
Click Insert -- New Slide OR Click on button on top tool bar
which has a "twinkle" on the corner of the
"paper" symbol.
- Inserting
Graphic: On the New Slide screen, click on an
Autolayout which has a graphic option. Double-click on
the picture. Choose your graphic and click
"Insert." Drag the picture by clicking on
then moving the corners or sides of the picture.
- Fly-Ins: Click
on text, so a box appears around it. Click Slide Show
-- Preset Animation OR Click the "flying star"
icon on toolbar. Choose one of the buttons which
appear for various ways to "fly-in" your bullets.
- Transitions
Between Slides: First, make a few slides. Click on
Slide Show -- Slide Transitions -- Click on a transition
effect (use the drop-down box) and a sound, too, if you
wish.
- Making Teacher
Notes: Click on Notes Page View button (bottom left-hand
toolbar). Click in Note section (below slide).
Click in Zoom box (upper right toolbar with percent number)
and increase number shown to make text larger. Type in
notes.
- Rearranging
Slides: Click on Slide Sorter View )bottom left
toolbar). Click and drag the slide you want to
move. When a line appears where you want the slide to
be, let off on the mouse, and Voila! the slide will appear
there where the line was.
- Printing 3 or 6
Slides Per Page: File -- Print -- Print What --
Handouts -- Slides Per Page -- OK.
- Inserting
Hyperlink: Highlight word you want to make
hypertext. Click on globe with link button (top
toolbar). Type in web address.
