Internet
Tips
- Never
give out your name, address, or password online.
- How
to find an Internet site:
1) Type
in the exact address in the address box.
(Example: http://www.rose.net)
2) Go
to a search engine and type in a word for it to search.
Some search
engines are: http://www.yahoo.com
http://www.google.com http://www.dogpile.com
- When
typing in Internet addresses, remember:
NO
spaces allowed!
And
Check your
spelling. One mistake and you won't get
where you want to go.
- Put
quotations around search phrases.
Otherwise, the search engine may search for each word separately.
- Bookmark
sites to find them again easily. Click
the Bookmark or the Favorites button, then next time you want that site,
click on Bookmarks or Favorites.
- Click
the Back button to return to your previous site.
- Press
Print Preview before printing info off a site, to see how much will
print.
- Check
the authority and bias of a site before citing it in a
research paper. Was the site
created by a 13 year-old, a Nazi, or the Center for Disease Control? ANYBODY can put a web site online.
- Hypertext
is the bright blue writing on a web page.
When the mouse arrow turns into a pointy finger, you may click on
the hypertext and it will connect you to another web site.
