ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION
GRADE DURING LABS
Anatomy is a lab oriented class.  The majority of class time is spent working on lab projects.  As these projects quite often involve large amounts of time and effort, groups of two usually work together.  In order to prevent problems that have arisen in the past the following rules and grading procedures will be used:
  • Students will pick their own partners.
  • Students MAY NOT change partners without EXPRESS PERMISSION of the Teacher
  • Students who do not participate or have excessive absences will lose participation points.
  • Students must do work in class, every lab day, even if they plan on doing additional work at home.
  • Students violating safety procedures will receive an immediate daily grade of zero.  Additional punishment may be awarded, or the student may be sent to the office should the infraction warrant such an action.  SAFETY IS ALWAYS FIRST
RULES ON AWARDING PARTICIPATION GRADE
  • For each lab a set number of "days to lose" will be assigned.
  • All absences will cost the students a day of participation.
  • sign outs and tardies that involve missing significant amounts of class time will cost a day.
  • ISS and OSS time will cost days.
  • ISS work properly done will be used as makeup for some days.
  • Students without materials will lose that day.
  • Students who receive TWO warnings to return to task will lose a day.  Please listen to the first warning
  • Students who exchange partners without permission will not receive credit for days without their correct partners.
Upon the completion of the project, the number of days lost will be tallied up.  The "days to lose" will be subtracted from that figure and the percentage of time on task will be calculated.  This grade will be posted as part of the project grade for that individual.
Example:   The project uses 12 days of class time.  Two days are announced to lose. Two students working together have the following participation.  Student A has lost two days for whatever reason.  Student B has lost 5 days of the 12 for various reasons.  There are no extenuating circumstances.  The project is a 100 point project with 20 points for participation.  the project has been awarded 75 points.  As there 10 days that count for participation, each day is 2 points each.

Student A has missed 2 days of 12,  has 10 participation days.  2 times 10 is 20 + 75 for the project itself = 95 grade

Student B has missed 5 days of 12,  has 7 participation days.  2 times 7 is 14 + 75 for the project itself=  89 grade.
