Community Service Opportunities
Scholars Academy students must log 20 hours of community service per year.
Click HERE to print a copy of a form on which to log community service hours. 
Please check out the Community Service Area across the hall from the fornt office for sign-up sheets.
Community service logs are due to grade-level sponsors BEFORE the last day of school!

Community Service Opportunity:  Come out and join your fellow students for the Keep America Beautiful Great American Cleanup on March 27th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.  Click HERE for a flyer and HERE for more specific information.  See Mrs. Rinehart for further explanation and to sign up.

The Suites of Woodleaf Assisted Living is interested in having some volunteers from the Scholars Academy spend time with residents doing various activities.  Seniors have such a great impact on this world, and it will be of benefit to both the seniors and your students for them to learn from each other.  Those students who are interested can contact Mrs. Kilgore directly to set up volunteer times:  woodleafathome@mchsi.com or 229.226.8682.

The Thomasville Boys and Girls Club need tutors for after school.  Students will work with students from pre-k to 6th grade.  Please let Mrs. Bryan know if you are interested.

Tutors are needed for Language Arts and Math every afternoon at 3:30.  Please see Mrs. Bryan if you are interested.  This is an excellent way to get community service hours. 

Another opportunity for service hours:  Thomas County DFACS has a need for some assistance in their office. They are looking for volunteer help.  For further information please call Roxanne Walker or Peggy Hunter at 227-2136

Boys & Girls Club Interact with the very young, assist in the computer lab, help with homework, read in small groups or one-on-one in the Thursday afternoon Accelerated Reading Blitz.  Even one hour a week makes a difference. Habitat for Humanity - Every Saturday 8:30 – 12:00pm.  Call Ken Manwaring at 224-4761 or the HOTC Office at 226-5200

Thomasville Community Resource Center needs volunteers to assist very young with after school homework help, work with children in the garden, or reading to a child. Even one hour a week makes a difference; a regular commitment is appreciated by not essential. The Thomas County Food Bank needs help on Mondays from 3pm-5pm. Contact Diane Lawson at 226-6781.

The Humane Society has need for dog washers and walkers every 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday of each month. If you are interested in doing this, go to the Humane Society to pick up a volunteer packet or call Kim Arrington at 228-0613. Under the age of 14 requires the presence of a parent for safety reasons.
