There will be a "last chance” orientation session being held tonight at 6:00 p.m. in the THS cafeteria.

 

Thursday, September 2nd Coach Brown from THS will be here around 8:00 to issue required student parking permits for $15.00.

 

Homecoming is early this year!!  Next week is Homecoming Week:

It’s not too late to sign up for Science Academy! The first session for 8th grade will be Wednesday, September 15th.  The trip to Universal Studios and Magic Kingdom will be the first week of November. Please see Ms. Miller or Mrs. Rinehart for more details. All 6th and 7th grade students who will be joining Science Academy may start making their payments at any time!

 

Creativity Night is coming up on Friday, September 24 from 4:30-8:00.  Along with all the activities and dinner is the wonderful entertainment and talent show.  Students interested in performing should pick up a form in Ms. Cernogorsky’s room. Turn them in at the from office in the box labeled “Creativity Night.”  Deadline for forms is Thursday, September 2. 

 

It's Super Science Saturday time!  Volunteers are needed for this event which is Saturday, September 18.  Check your calendar before signing up outside Mrs. Kornegay's door.  Sign up before September 2 to get a free T-shirt.

 

Did you complete some community service hours over the summer?   Document these while they are fresh in your mind and submit to Mrs. Celaya.  Click HERE or on the "Community Service" link to view opportunities and to print out a form on which to log the required 20 hours of community service. 


2010 football season t-shirts are for sale:  $10 each (2XX is $12, 3XXX is $15).  Students or teachers can turn money into Mrs. Rinehart and will receive the next day! Click HERE to see what the shirts look like and the THS football schedule. 

 

Passwords for access to the Parent Portal on PowerSchool, our new student information system, will be sent out soon via email.  Parents who signed up and provided identification at school last year need not reapply. 

 

Seniors who passed all 5 parts of the GHSGT the first time around are eligible to receive an athletic pass for an administrative fee of $10.  Restrictions apply, so submit your fee with the Athletic Pass Agreement to Mrs. Tennille in the bookkeeper’s office at THS by the deadline: Thursday, September 2. 

 

The Scholars Academy Open House for grades 6 - 12 will be held on Tuesday, September 7th from 5:30-6:30.  The Open House scheduled for MacIntyre Park Middle School on Tuesday, August 31st  is optional for Scholars Academy students.  There will be good information at this PTSO Open House, but Scholars Academy teachers will not be available for visits on that night.


Gifted Annual Reviews will be held in the Bulldog Café on Tuesday, September 7th at 6:30.  Notices have been sent home with students.


Seniors:  There will be a mandatory assembly in the THS cafeteria for all seniors on Monday, October 18 during 1st period.  Scholars Academy students should report directly to THS, and any senior without a first period class is required to attend.  Information will be given about caps and gowns, diplomas, and senior supplies.  Senior orders will be due on Friday, October 22, with an $80 deposit.  Orders less than $80 must be paid in full. 


Class rings will be delivered on Thursday, September 2.  Rings must be paid in full for pick up.  Any balance due must be cash or money order.


All drop off and pick up for Scholars Academy students should occur in the back circle from the Washington Street entrance.  No student should be dropped off for school along Washington Street.

Students are eligible to receive academic letter jackets or patches for letter jackets that they have earned in other areas.  Students must have completed al community service requirements and meet 3 of the 5 following conditions: 
1.  Made a 3 or better on an AP examination.
2.  Received a 1st place in individual or team academic competition.
3.  Received a perfect score on a section of a standardized test such as EOCT, ACT, SAT, or GHSGT.
4.  Participated on at least two academic teams or at two academic competitions.
5.  Made 1800 or higher on the three combined SAT sections.
