The goal of the Parent Involvement Department is to increase student achievement by engaging and empowering parents to become actively involved in their children’s education across all grade levels.
Parent Involvement is an ongoing process that increases active participation, communication, and collaboration between parents, schools, and communities with the goal of educating the whole child to ensure student achievement and success.
The Georgia Department of Education’s Parent Engagement Program ensures that Title I, Part A parental involvement regulations are met with meaningful and strategic actions to build parent capacity as mandated by the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). Schools and districts must ensure that strong strategies are in place to: 1) build capacity to involve parents/stakeholders in an effective partnership with the school; and 2) share and support high student academic achievement.
2017-2018 School Choice: HB 251 In accordance with this 2009 state law (O.C.G.A 20-2-2131) parents/guardians may request to transfer their child to another school within the district if adequate, permanent classroom space is available at the requested school. Any resident student of Thomasville City Schools may apply for a HB 251 transfer. Applications must be submitted between June 12, 2017 and on June 26, 2017.
