Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

Exciting, challenging, and motivating are three adjectives that students use to describe their experiences at Harper Elementary.

This year our theme at J. K. Harper is to "Reach for the Stars." We will focus on and prepare for the criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT). Students are excited about learning and engaged in activities that will allow them to be as prepared as possible for the test.

One of the challenges that lie ahead for educators is the self-centered and "what's in it for me" mindset that society seems to have grasped. Although academics play a vital role in the success of our students, we also need to spend time on character development.

Teaching students to always do the right thing, to be responsible for their own actions, and to treat others the way you want to be treated cannot be ignored. To be successful in life, we must be accountable for our choices and be able to deal with other people in a positive manner.
